THC Nanoemulsion 101
What in the world is a THC nanoemulsion?
That is the big question. We’re going to nerd out for a bit and tell you everything you need to know about THC nanoemulsions, what they mean for THC drinks, and more.
THC nanoemulsions: water and oil = happy together.
Typically, oil and water don’t mix. But when you create a stable combination of the two, it’s called an emulsion. So, nanoemulsion is a big scientific word that essentially means that when tiny oil and water droplets are mixed, they won’t separate. When it comes to THC, a THC nanoemulsion keeps the cannabinoid oil and water together on a super small scale.
Make it snappy, nanoemulsion-style.
Because the cannabinoids are smaller and more evenly dispersed in a THC nanoemulsion, the technology helps THC dissolve faster and absorb quickly and easily when it’s ingested, meaning you’ll feel the THC whoa much faster than a non-emulsified THC beverage or edible. Think somewhere in the 15-20 minute range to an hour. (You should still take it slow and wait to feel the whoa before going back for more if it’s your first time, of course.)
THC nanoemulsions taste better.
It’s true: the best THC drinks probably use nanoemulsion technology. More traditional THC oils or tinctures can carry more of cannabis bitterness than most folks are after in a beverage. And nanoemulsions don’t just taste better, they feel better on the mouth too. That means you can enjoy sipping just as much as the feeling after.
Nanoemulsions get you your whole THC dose.
In a typical THC oil, the body can’t digest and absorb all of the cannabinoids as effectively as a THC nanoemulsion. Studies have shown that absorption rates for THC nanoemulsion are over 90%, compared to 10% absorption for traditional THC oils. By breaking down THC molecules into smaller sizes, you can get a more accurate dose, and feel the full effect more quickly.
Facts are facts: the best THC drinks use nanoemulsion technology.
If you’re buying THC drinks (think seltzers, sodas and coffees), you’re gonna want to reach for options that are made with THC nanoemulsion. It’ll taste better, work faster and give you more of the feeling you’re after with more accurate dosing. Seems like a win-win-win. Win? We lost count.
